Chanakya

Acharya Chanakya was the Guru (teacher) of Emperor Chandragupta Maurya. He prepared and helped him to gain the Magadha Empire and then served as his Prime Minister, for some time, consolidating his rule.  Teacher of Political Economy (Artha Sastra) at Taksasila Visvavidyalaya (university) Chanakya is also known as Visnugupta and Kautilya.

Angered because of the unjust rule of Dhana Nand of Magadh and personal misbehavior he experienced, he was instrumental in removal of Dhana Nanda and putting Chandragupta Maurya on the throne. His guidance helped Chandragupta Chanakya to repulse the attacks of the alien invadors (Greeks) on the kingdoms of Western India. The Guru (teacher) and his Sisya (disciple) established one of the biggest empires in India and ruled it well. Defeating the Greeks army they extended the empire to the Hindu-kush Mountain. Chanakya wrote Artha Sastra, a monumental work that is an extraordinarily treatise on Political Science, Economics, Defenses and war-policy, Foreign policy (diplomacy), Agriculture, Trade, Animal Husbandry, Mineral wealth and Industrial Policy, Law, Sociology (or Social ethics), Dharma etc.
